Its a bit wider than the double mattress, so my dust ruffle is short, and theres a space between the mattress and the head of the bed. But no squeaks, sturdy, easy assembly.
Update: a few months later I had to tighten the screws to stop the squeaking. I have a big cover that protects my legs from its legs. I have to place some acoustic foam (cardboard would work) under the mattress to prevent the mattress from sinking through the slats / and to keep from voiding the warranty on my mattress. My son loves it!!
