We bought this for our boy's room. It works well, but on the top bunk we have a 9 year old. I would not recommend an adult sleeping in there, it doesn't feel safe. It is not that sturdy in my opinion for a heavy person. Plus, when my son moves up there you can hear the whole bed. It seems pretty safe for a small child, but it is pretty noise since it is made of metal.
